I took temperature readings by blasting the truck from about 60' and back to me and took readings and temps were as low as 232 degrees and as high as 254. It ran pretty hard like that and had smoke coming from the exhaust even while it was moving a little bit. Well, that blew a McCoy MC-59 and a Traxxas 3232 with that HS setting. So far it hasn't blown this new 3232X plug and the engine temps are as low 214 degrees and as high as 221 blasting it. Anything that any of you see I am doing wrong. Wrong plugs? 3 hard for long periods of a time. I mean, I have ran the truck from a dead stop to about 50 yards going and coming back to me. Am I wrong for running it that hard like that. I got throught break-in fine, and after the first retune it wend down hill from there. My LHS said they will not work on 3.3 even though they sell Traxxas cars and trucks. The owner has told me he is seeing more and more problems with them. He's to the point he says it might be easier to just buy a new engine. So, I did, and it was the best thing I think I could have done for it. I'm not saying you should buy a new engine.but it might be one angle to look at. At 3-4 dollars a plug.it would only take you about 37 plugs to justify it. LOLIts too whacked out for me.I guess I need to go ahead and order one tomorrow then. The temps are in the 215-230 ranges. What plugs were you guys running in your 3.3's?I don't remember the item number off hand, but they were the black coated plugs. I bought two Mccoy MC9s, but I bought the os 18tm before I blew the Traxxas plug in the 3.3.In the REVO manual, Traxxas says that there is no set temperature to tune to so I just went off what the LHS said to tune to. Thanks again.I have been tuning the low speed the whole time thinking it was the idle since the engine responds to that adjustment whereas the actual idle screw does nothing but idle it up high. I just went out and did the pinch test and it was at 4 seconds and hardly raised the RPM's when the motor died. Run the car and richen it by unturning (anticlockwise) the hsn screw. Rember you want to see that smoke Warm engine then pinch the fuel line just before the carb. If rpm goes up a little then youre ok. If the engines dies then LSN is too lean and therefore you gonna richen it (again 16th but out this time) I didn't think it would be any different from the one that come with my T-Maxx. Im sure Senior Rusty Basher will vouch that it runs like a dream, has plenty of bottom end grunt from standstill etc. It might be worth having a look at the clutch see it is broken like mine was. BTW is use 20 byrones fuel in mine. The engine sounded like it should, I manged to sort the idle too. And when accelerating hard it didn't choke at all. I hardly changed anything from the factory settings either.On my Inferno, I changed loads on the engine to make it perform how it does. Came down hard on the engine, jaring it out of place and therefore stripping the spur gear. I can't seem to move the engine back either, even with the mounting screws removed, it's stuck firm onto the chassis:-( Another thing that might make it easier to tune is sealing the carb and backplate - what fuel are you using? Used it for years and not had any problems with it in any of my nitro vehicles. The only thing that is wrong with the bad landing is a semi stripped spur gear and the engine knocked out of place. There are many things to consider when choosing shock oils and in this article, we’ll go over our recommendations for a basic setup. In this article is assumed that cars tend to have same default adjustments when taken out of the box. The greater the number, the thicker the oil. Cst and WT values aren’t directly comparable, so it’s good to stick to one of them and always get the oil from the same brand. That way it’s easier to keep track of the thickness of the oils. The rear damping will be softer by default (smaller cst value) However, the basic principle regarding oil choice is the same as with other cars. With thinner oils you’ll get a better grip for your car, but turning becomes lazier and the car will roll more in curves. In Touring cars, the spring travel is significantly shorter so there’s also less travel space for damping compared to, for example, off-road cars. Careful assembly of the shocks and identical results are much more important in a Touring car (very sensitive to adjustments) compared to off-road cars. Thinner oil improves grip on slippery track while steering becomes lazier. Thicker oil makes steering faster and more accurate. It’s good to bear in mind that the damping should be enough to not let the rear bounce. If that happens, switch to thicker oil. In general, the rear is adjusted to have a softer damping for a better grip. In case more accuracy is desired, you can try thicker oil. You can also consider trying 500 cSt if you drive on high-traction surfaces like mat or asphalt. In that case, I’d recommend increasing damping. Softer damping for the rear. See, however, that the car doesn’t dive at bumps or when landing. If the rear starts to bounce, you may have to improve the damping. Landing after jumps and bumps require good damping, so you might have to choose stiffer damping at the expense of grip. As a general rule of thumb, the damping should be softer in the rear than the front. With heavier cars there’s a greater risk of diving at bumps and when landing after jumps. Too stiff damping in the front results in under-steering and if the damping is too soft in the front, the front will dive when braking. By softening the damping in the rear, you’ll achieve better grip when turning but make sure the damping is sufficient for landings.
