Melinda McLane 5.0 out of 5 stars I set this up on our property by the pond and literally left it up for 4 months during Oklahoma heat, wind, rain and storms! I gave it the ultimate test and it stood strong. I would highly recommend this tent to anyone! We put a pop-up tent inside it and that was ok. 4 more information go to YouTube Grammy and pappy at it again. Most big tents you get, you have to have a buddy to put it up. I can put this up on my own and quickly. A single parent taking little kids can put it up without help too. Before you go for the 18 footer, you can take a garden hose and block out the tent footprint so you can see how big it really is. If you camp in a small campground with low hanging limbs (height is 9.5 feet), then it might be too big for you. I love the height and the space, so it was perfect for me. I read the reviews on the tent. It's true, the guy ropes are not standard paracord, but I wouldn't replace them unless you had to. I had mine set up for a week and there were 2 severe weather events. One was some pretty high winds and the other was torrential rain and high winds. They did fine. Someone suggested putting some Velcro on the bottom of the doors. That would work. Because of the slope, you can get the shower curtain on the wrong side of the tub effect. I sewed a loop on each of the 4 door sections on the bottom.http://www.peugeot-machecoul.fr/admin/userfiles/british-army-mac-manual-catering-manual.xml I staked the loops down from the inside (it was sandy soil), just reaching out the screened area, and that kept the doors from touching the screen and all the water shed beautifully away from the tent. I did give it 2 coats of silicone before the weather events.just to be sure. NO LEAKS. I also sealed the seams from the inside.something I do to every new tent I get. Some say to get other stakes, I would buy a few higher end stakes. You wouldn't need to replace all of them. Just bring some extras and see where the needs are. I staked mine in Florida sand, and I ended up replacing about 4 of the stakes is all. It was enough. After about a week, I took it down tonight and if you fold it into a square, with the cap in the middle, you can ease out a lot of the air and can make it smaller. You will NEVER get that tent back in the bag that it came in. Plan on a duffle to replace it or I keep all the old tent bags and I'm going to put it in an old tent bag I have that will be plenty large enough for it. Someone complained about the pole ripping from the middle. BE SURE YOU PUT THE PLASTIC CAP ON THE POLE to protect the tent fabric. I almost didn't see it. I was outside and it just fell out of the tent pole bag and I was like, what's this. I took a pic of it so you can see it. Make sure you look for it and use it because that will protect your fabric and it would be so easy to lose it out in the grass. I now store it in a baggie with the pole base so it doesn't get lost. I also took a pic of my tent. Notice the utility shed next to it so you can get some idea of scale. It is a large tent. I camp A LOT. I've owned cheap tents and high end ones, and this one was sewn well and the quality was not cheap in the workmanship. It's not high end either, but well worth what I paid for it. This is the biggest tent I think you can get where one person can put it up with ease. Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2015 It's s frickin TEEPEE.http://schlammatlas.de/en/node/16328 Easy to set up alone since it's only one pole. It is just a lot of tie lines to stake down. Can barely fit hammock inside but it fits ( ). It is kinda annoying to have the pole in the middle but it works. No place to hang a lantern inside but I have been taping lights on the center pole to prevent people from using it as a stripper pole. Rain was my biggest concern before buying it and didn't treat it so was annoying both times I used the teepee. It does pretty well but rain came in through the doors and does seep in at the bottom when over saturated. Key is to have a hammock or air bed so not on the floor. The black cover on the top is connected so can it can be removed completely so you can't see the stars. Finding a big enough smooth ground is also a concern since it is so big and then need more space for stakes and tie downs. Rented an island with two camp sites on it but couldn't be set up at one due to rocks and uneven ground. Please try again later. Tom Simmons 5.0 out of 5 stars We spend most of our camping trips exploring the local area, hanging out at the campground facilities, enjoying the outdoors, that's why we go camping, so our tent is just a place to lay our heads at night and catch some sleep. Therefore my requirements are simple, it needs to have enough room for 4 people with air mattresses, and it needs to stay up and keep us dry during the inevitable thunderstorm that WILL find us in the middle of the night. I liked the teepee design as there are no flat vertical surfaces for wind to push against, unlike your typical rectangular cabin tent has.http://garrisonjazz.com/images/braun-wheelchair-lift-parts-manual.pdf Also, the rectangular cabin tent has a screen too with a rain fly that covers it, but generally has a large gap i between that sideways rain finds its way in between and into your tent. The tepee design seemed like a superior design in both these areas. But. what about the quality. Other buyers seemed to have one of two experiences with this tent, one group loved it, and the other had major problems with the pole ripping out its designated spot at the top and the tent comes tumbling down. They also say the nylon loops the stakes go in separate from the tent. The guylines were allegedly made of ultra cheap material and snap at first use. There are no shortage of first trip horror stories to be read on here. However, I couldn't find another tent for the money I wanted to spend that I was more confident would do better so I bought it. It arrived so of course I immediately set it up!!! I had purchased some new guylines in preparation of replacing the junk ones before I even put it up, but to my surprise they looked fine, so I let them be, figured they'd be fine for a backyard camping adventure with the kids 100' from the house. Tent went up pretty much as expected, though the first time took a long time unknotting all the guylines and setting them to length, but setup is simple and straightforward, and I did it myself. I then spent the next several hours coating it with (9 cans of) Kiwi waterproof tent sealer (it's a big tent!!). We then filled it with out gear. First thing I noticed is it looks huge when it's empty but the lack of straight walls and corners, and the center pole, really limit your options to place items like air mattresses and tables and what not. Because of th shape you always end up with a large triangular space of emptyness behind the object, and your roominess seems to shrink very quickly. But. while the space isn't abundant, it's sufficient for 4 campers and air mattresses, if you slept on the ground in sleeping bags you could fit a few more.http://www.norestim.ro/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162852f98e70da---Burton-ski-lock-manual.pdf We all slept well, the lower ventilation windows work well with the open top (covered with cone shaped rain fly) to suck fresh air in the bottom and back out the top. The tents debut was a success. The next few days weather reports were calling for thunderstorms, some potentially strong, but rather than pull it down, I decided to leave it up and see how it held up. If it was as poor of quality as many reviews have stated and it was going to get ripped to shreds, I'd rather have it happen now than the first night of a week long camping trip, plus I was still in the window to return it if it were damaged (I think). So we left it up, day 1 came where we got a little over an inch of rain over about 8 hours with some strong winds. Got home from work, opened it up and found it almost bone dry, minus a few drops that appeared directly under the plastic view windows, and a little bit more by the doors, but pretty minimal. I got some seam sealer and went around those windows as well as the other windows and door seams. I observed the design flaw others have mentioned where the doors don't actually zip at the bottom, so they flap around and I can certainly see how water can come in there, so I ordered some sticky Velcro strips to close it off, but as far as day 2 of testing, rocks would have to hold it down. Day 2 was actually a nice day so I didn't learn anything new, but day three had a round of heavy storms with another inch of rain in half the time span and winds gusting to 50 plus MPH. I can't wait for my first real trip in this tent, I feel like Mother Nature threw her best at it and it held strong. Would buy again, at least from this same manufacturing run!!! ??????Please try again later. William Phil Cottrell 4.0 out of 5 stars NO, it takes 2 people. You HAVE to put the pole up, have someone hold it in place while another is setting the stakes.www.dayiprofil.com/upload/files/canon-hd-vixia-hg20-manual.pdf My idea in a design change would be to have one of those metal adjustable poles with the spring loaded buttons and holes for the buttons to click into. That way, one person could set this up by simply laying it flat on the ground, stake it out then put up the adjustable pole, then you could go around and readjust the stakes if needed. Be forewarned, there are 30 stakes that you have to deal with and lots of guy lines, but they do have a purpose and that is to keep the tent taut. With all the guy lines it was a bit confusing as the directions are pretty vague and not any real detailed pictures. Undoing all the guy lines was a bit painstaking but will be a lot easier next time around. My biggest compliment in all of this would be to FedEx. It left Guide Gear at 4:24 p.m. on August 24th and arrived at my front door 5:20 p.m. today the 26th. 49 hours isn't bad from Minnesota to Southwest Missouri and that wasn't with expedited shipping. It does come in a nice carrying bag, just hope I can get it all folded back right so it will fit back in it. One end of the carrying bag did have a bout a one inch tear in one end which I am certain will gain in size over a period of time. I gave it a 4 star as I never give any product 5. Will update review as time goes on and have used a few times. I will say this, this mutha is HUGE inside!!!! Glad I bought it instead of the 10 footer.NO, it takes 2 people. Also, as tall as it is, the door could be taller.http://controlcert.se/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162852fa870904---Burton-solution-manual.pdf Otherwise, just used it out in the windy high desert and it was AWESOME!! Just got back from a 3 day weekend in Harpers Ferry WV and am still in love with it. It is extremely spacious and easy to put up. The first time I took it out, we got a ridiculous amount of rain fall at night with some thunder. The sheets on my queen inflatable always felt moist by night fall, but the nice breeze that came in from the bottom vents made it all bearable. So definitely waterproof and seal any seams. I, like many others, replaced the stakes and would like to change the cord of the guide lines to something more sturdy and visible at night (my auntie fell pretty bad tripping over one that was staked out pretty far.) Also, if you are bringing man's best friend along, you will have to do something about the door to truly secure the bottom. When I caught him (20 mins later) I had to tie him to the pole, which worked well. I also lost one of the tie down pegs (the little nylon pieces that stake down the bottom frame of the tent. I tried resewing it and thought it was pretty sturdy only to find it had ripped off again. Someone in another review mentioned using a tarp clip to fix, but I didn't quite understand how that would work. The tent is crazy big, tons of space and really cool looking. I don't camp often, but I couldn't imagine not having this style of tent. I had a queen mattress and 2 twin mattresses (2- 12 yo boys) and a dog, a large chair and table and still plenty of room. Can't wait to take it out again! Please try again later. ddavis 5.0 out of 5 stars My son actually slept through most of the. Every time we go camping it is the focal point. Our first trip with it we were hit by a monster storm with very high winds and enough rain to float coolers.https://optimus.org.au/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162852fa97f074---bury-9060-user-manual.pdf We did get some, but not much considering the downpour, water intrusion along the bottom if the doors and around one if the window seams. I received the tent the evening before we left out so I didn't have time to seal the seams. The tent did awesome. My son actually slept through most of the storm. Some if the campers were so water logged they had to pack up and leave, we were fine and stayed the entire weekend with a few of the others. Setup is a breeze with this tent literally took my 11 yo and myself 20 mins with the first time setup and adjustments, we do it in about 10 now. Very roomy inside. We actually had two chairs and a small table set up in addition to our sleeping area during the mentioned storm. Get some Velcro straps. We discovered the center pole is great for hanging our fanlights to help keep us cool at night. The doors are a little narrow going in and out, but I could still get this old man's Queen inflatable through, lol. If you are looking for a large roomy tent that us easy to setup and really not too heavy when packed, this worth your consideration. Understand it needs a large footprint for setup because 18' in diameter us bigger than you might think. Also take the time to set it up at home and seal the window seams, I have since the storm mentioned above and no issues since. Please try again later. Ken Jensen 3.0 out of 5 stars Not as ventilated as a real Tipi. We use air mats rather than cots to take advantage of what room is available closer to the floor. Great fun in cool, dry weather where things can touch the tent walls a bit. Snow was fine too. Leaked like a sieve in the rain, especially around the doors. There is a design flaw on the length of the door covers. Top vent could easily be twice as large and windows can only be used by going outside. Big fat seam running right across the mid line of the floor. Seal that. Seal all the seams and keep anything from touching wet wall during the rain.www.dataloggerthai.com/ckfinder/userfiles/files/canon-hd-vixia-hg20-manual-pdf Kids and dogs trip over the guy outs all the time. Real Tipi did not use guy outs but. We like it and use it for special trips or during known weather but have added lengths of material to the door flaps and attached additional sidewall guy outs to increase living space inside. Please try again later. Objective Rally Point 1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap lousy materials, like the ridiculous tent stakes that don't grip and pull right out of the ground. No grommets on the tent stake loops which are sideways instead of vertical, which means that the tent stakes are a pain to insert and don't stay. The entire thing smacks of cheap shoddy design, materials and a lack of attention to detail. My son and I did eventually get the thing to stand up, but the tent stakes all pulled out of the ground, and the tent pole never fit properly because of a critical missing piece of equipment. Please try again later. Charleen Brown 3.0 out of 5 stars There's also no Velcro on the bottom of the vent flaps towards the bottom of the tent. Again, if you're going to go near rain, I'd recommend fixing that as well. I changed out the Ropes from the black nylon to something a bit more fluorescent, as well since our drunk asses kept tripping on the ropes the first time I took this out. I've used it several times now since I've bought it.Please try again later. Click here to continue. Key features This brand is well-known for its tipi tents and some of them have been around for many years already. So modern teepees are single-pole constructions and they are not freestanding. The same structure you have here in this tent. What keeps it up is the pole and the staked base, so the first thing to do is to stake it properly and then raise the central pole. It is essential that you choose a ground that keeps the stakes so this cannot be sound, and this also cannot be done on a rock or a frozen terrain. The number 18 denotes its dimension, this is a polygonal large structure but it is also very tall with the peak height of 118 inches (300 cm). So I have added it to my list of very tall tents. This is a huge tent but one person can easily set it up. Some 15 minutes or so should be quite enough to do the job. For camping, it is best to downgrade this by half. In view of such a size, I have included it in my list of extra large family camping tents. The windows are solid and you can close all the openings with panels. I see it better suited for a cooler than for a warm environment. But the waterproof rating is rather low, the tent is very tall, so it is best to avoid rain and strong winds. But the vents are such that they can serve as windows as well. The door and vents are with mesh and panels. The solid windows have inner blinds for privacy, and they are equipped with toggles, you can see this in the picture below. Note that there is a plastic base for the pole so that it doe snot damage the floor. The floor is a sewn-in polyethylene, sturdy and waterproof. The seams are factory-sealed but I have seen many users complaining about leaking. The carry bag is included. When the sky is clear, you can roll the panels up and fix above the vents. The mesh will give a complete protection from insects. Both configurations are shown in the pictures below. Note that you have zippers on the flaps, which is a great feature for such an affordable tent. There is a top fly which protects this vent from the rain. Obviously, it is much taller and bigger than the other two, though it is heavier, but it is equally affordable. The setup is easy, the packed size and weight are excellent. But do not put it to harsh tests, it is too tall for windy conditions. I have added this tent to my list with best teepee tents for camping. See below how I rate ot. If you need something different for 12 people, check in the category tents for 11 people plus, you will find them in all sizes and shapes. It's truly the best tent for the money I have ever foun d - Gear Guide is the make - I don't know the quality of the others - only that these two large 18x18' ones and the 12x12' we bought were surprisingly worth it - in our opinion. Only took about 2 hours. But my kids and their friends had a blast in this big tent once it went together. Plenty of room, not to mention fun, for everyone. I was highly impressed with this tent. I don't know, I'm not a tent guy but I want to own one for when I go out in groups. Do you guys know if it can be used in the winter. Also do any of you have this tent and if so, what are your reviews of it? I know they are a good deal on sportsman guide whenever they are in stock, seems they are a seasonal item. I know they are a good deal on sportsman guide whenever they are in stock, seems they are a seasonal item.I don't know. Also depends on what kind of winds your talking about. On the plus side, it is a Teepee, so you can have a good heating element going for you. In an average winter, I see no problems with it. Do more research and look for actual reviews before pulling the trigger. I don't know. Also depends on what kind of winds your talking about. Do more research and look for actual reviews before pulling the trigger.I don't see a option for a wood stove but I would mod that if I had to. Is there a difference to having the chemny out the side than to having it out the top. Also I know about melting the material, what's a good material to put around the stove hole? I don't know, I'm not a tent guy but I want to own one for when I go out in groups. Also do any of you have this tent and if so, what are your reviews of it? Initially I was really satisfied with this tent, that was until the wind blew and caused significant damage. The first thing that went wrong was the center pole tore through the fabric of the tent, this was easily fixed and then reinforced. However what really ruined this tent was a blast of wind that caused the center pole to bend and break, also causing a rip in the fabric of the tent and breaking a couple of the plastic windows. I now use the materiel of the tent to do repairs and such. I hope that the problems I had with the tent aren't widespread and indicative of the tent as a whole. Apart from leaking like a sieve tho until the pole bent it was handling the wind and wet snow loading really well. I intend to do some work on it and make it stronger for next winter I bought a one man guide gear tent a few years ago. I set it up.no scratch that. It didn't even make it that far. I tried to set it up. While doing so the guide sleeve (for the pole) on one side busted at the seams. When I was putting the pole in on the other side the pole snapped in half. I have no idea if it would hold up in the rain because I never had the chance to get it set up. I put it back in the bag and then dropped it in the trash can when I got home. Complete, total junk. I should have known better, you usually get what you pay for. I did. Maybe I got a lemon, I don't know. Just one person's experience to be added to others. The one thing I did not return was a large family tent that leaks like a sieve. Here is a winter screenshot of a 10x10 though. Was it just so you didn't have to make two holes. One in the peak plus one in the cowl. The leaking like a sieve I can fix You may even get a 20 off coupon. Oh an they have a no hassle return policy too. For big shelters I need to buy local but thanx for the heads up on that. Maybe worth buying a couple on our next trip over tho Was it just so you didn't have to make two holes. The leaking like a sieve I can fixI imagine the reason was because that spot is a plastic window so was simple to cut out. I imagine the reason was because that spot is a plastic window so was simple to cut out.If you click on the description they show that vent. Well out of my price range which is why I was interested in modifying my cheap one. I had to tarp the whole thing. Now we just use it for the kids in the backyard. Teepee shaped tents are usually pretty good in the wind, but if you are using a single pole teepee it has to be well and securely guyed. Winter tents without supplemental heat typically need a fly and plenty of ventilation to prevent severe frosting. Propane makes a bad cold weather heat source. When using fiberglass poles take the time to make sure they are fully inserted into each other before stressing them. You usually get what you pay for. Don't cheap out on shelter in the winter unless you are sleeping in your backyard. I have a 10x10 Cabela's Outback Lodge and it has been a nice tent. It has not leaked in the rain and it has lots of tie down points. I would say it is ok up to about 20-25 mph winds but it is too flat sided to withstand anything more.
