The computer-generated graphics and animation on the DVDs visually bring home the concepts presented in a way that won't soon be forgotten. It would be difficult for any child to fail using this system. It is systematic, incremental, and reinforced with course notes, exercises, quizzes and tests. The emphasis is on conceptual learning so students will be able to apply their knowledge regardless of problem presentation. Although it is meant to be used along with an instructor, if I had to choose a math curriculum to be used by an independent learner, this would be it, hands-down. The cornerstone of the program is the video instruction. These presentations are very professionally done. Instruction is clear and audio is excellent. Every presenter speaks distinctly and at a moderate pace. His expertise at reaching and teaching children really comes through in the presentations. Animated graphics complement the audio, showing step-by-step explanation. It would be very difficult to duplicate this quality on a board with a live presenter, especially in the case of 3-D graphics like conic sections and x, y, z axes. Relationships are arranged, rearranged and moved to a coordinate plane with ease, bringing home the thought process and solution steps in a way that would be difficult to achieve without this technology.http://shinhwacar.com/userData/board/3gm30f-parts-manual.xml

For students who aren't math-oriented, the bite-sized increments of instruction make the learning process easy to digest. In school site trial tests, students in classrooms using the VideoText program easily outscored students using conventional textbook and instructor methods. Another plus is the ability for students to play back previous instruction for review. This eliminates the potential for mistakes made due to misunderstandings or faulty memory. It also saves you, the math teacher, from repeating instruction over and over if a child is having a difficult time assimilating it. Even if you are very math oriented, if you have a student who is not, your teaching may not be reaching your child at a level basic enough for them to comprehend. These courses are great at thoroughly laying a foundation then building carefully upon it. In this system, students first watch the video (without taking notes - those are provided). While the instructions suggest repeatedly pausing the video to discuss and answer posed questions, I did not find this applicable to many of the lessons I watched. You will probably want to watch the first several presentations along with your student to determine whether this will be a necessary step in your lessons. Videos are 5-10 minutes in length. After watching the video, students review the course notes that summarize and recap the concepts and terminology presented. They then work the exercises in the student worktext. Rather unique to this program is the checking of this work by the student, using the provided solution manual. In this way, the child realizes and corrects his own mistakes, learning the correct procedure to follow. Solutions are shown in detail. If needed, he can review the video also. You gauge the student's performance via quizzes taken at the end of each lesson. The instructor's guide contains solutions to all quizzes and tests.http://tkquiz.com/userfiles/3gm30f-service-manual.xml The Algebra course is a complete course containing pre-Algebra instruction and the equivalent of both Algebra 1 and 2; two years of instruction. In fact, Dr. Clark recommends students take a CLEP or college entrance exam upon completing the Algebra course to place out of a college algebra refresher course. The Geometry course includes a significant amount of Trigonometry instruction and may serve as both Geometry and Pre-Calculus courses. The complete courses consist of 6 modules, A thru F (Geometry Level F is not available separately in DVD format). Each Module consists of one or more Units of instruction, containing various numbers of lessons (about three months worth of course work per module). Modules are contained in separate boxes which contain video lessons on DVD, course notes, student WorkTexts, Solution Manuals, Progress Tests and Instructor's Guides. Additional student materials are also available below for each module or in complete packs. Learn More Module F completes the Algebra series. Module F completes the Algebra series. Geometry: A Complete Course Video What Makes VideoText Different and Unique. You will be redirected to the secure Memoria Press site to complete checkout. The program covers Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Algebra II, and is a firm foundation for students advancing to VideoText's Geometry: A Complete Course, covering Geometry and Trigonometry. Because no shortcuts or tricks are used, the methods are easy to follow and promote clear understanding. Each page chronologically follows the video lesson, repeating exactly what was shown on the screen. More examples are given and exercises are provided for students. The explanations are virtually free of complicated language, making it easy for students to follow the logic of each concept. This resource is a powerful tool when used by students to complete an error-analysis of their work, and to check their thought processes. There are two versions of each test, allowing for retesting or review, to make sure students have mastered concepts. First, the inquiry-based video format contributes to the engaging of students more personally in the concept development process. Through the frequent use of the pause button, you, as the instructor, can virtually require interaction and dialogue on the part of your student./images/3-speed-manual-transmission-identification.pdf Second, each incremental concept is explored in detail, using no shortcuts, tricks, rules, or formulas, and no step in the process in ignored. As such, the logic and the continuity of the development assures students that they understand completely. Subsequently, learning is more efficient, and all of the required concepts (topics) of the subject can be covered with mastery. Of course, the benefits of these efforts can be seen even more clearly in a description of a typical session as follows: You should pause the DVD frequently, usually every 15-20 seconds (or more often if appropriate), to engage your student in discussion. This means that for a 5- 10 minute VideoText lesson, it may take 15-20 minutes to finish developing the concept. Dialogue is a cornerstone. In addition, during this time, your student should probably not be allowed to take notes. He or she must not have their attention divided, or they risk missing important links. Neither should you be dividing your attention by looking at notes or writing on a note pad or an overhead projector. Everyone is concentrating on concept development and understanding. And, because of the extensive detail of the explanations along with the computer generated graphics and animation, students are never shortchanged when it comes to the insight necessary to fully comprehend. These course notes are exact replications of the content that was viewed in the VideoText lesson, illustrating the same terms, problems, numbers, and.The key here is that students concentrate on understanding first, and take care of documentation later. Actually, the video should never tell your student anything that hasn't been considered or discussed (while the DVD is paused), and it should never answer questions that have not already been resolved. This is a critical point to be understood and should serve to help you examine all of the materials and strategies from the proper perspective.http://www.megasaludips.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626b9c0868910---casio-ctk-651-manual-download.pdf The primary feature of the WorkText, beside providing problem banks with which students can work on mastery, is that objectives are restated, important terms are reviewed, and additional example are considered, in noticeable detail, taking students, once again, through the logic of the concept development process. The premise here is simple. That is the focus of the Student WorkText. Of course, there are also quizzes, unit tests, cumulative reviews, and final examinations to help you to further assess your student's progress. In fact, the assessment package often utilizes open-response questions which require the learners to state, in writing, their understanding of the concept. This often reveals much more about a student's understanding of a concept than just checking to see if an answer on a test is correct. As well, they can review the video lessons as often as they wish to further ground that understanding. VideoText Algebra: A Complete Course VideoText Interactive Details 01 March 2016 VideoText's Algebra: A Complete Course is unusual since it combines pre-algebra through algebra 2 concepts (including serious work with functions) in a single course. If you are considering starting this at the pre-algebra level, you should know that most pre-algebra courses now include geometry, measurement, and other topics that are beyond the scope of this course. This course focuses on number concepts that are foundational for algebra: fractions, decimals, operations, prime numbers, signed numbers, etc. It continues from there to teach algebraic concepts in a different sequence than is common to most other programs. Equations and inequalities are taught together, concepts are developed in order of degrees (e.g., first degree equations, then second-degree equations), and it strives to follow a logical continuity from lesson to lesson as much as possible. The course is divided into six modules, which should take one to three months each to complete. Consider the entire program equivalent to two years of high school algebra and a supplement to a pre-algebra course, even though it should take less than 2.These should be paused frequently for students to consider their own answers to questions posed by the video teacher. Parents should watch the video and discuss concepts with students, but I suspect most parents will prefer that their teens work independently.http://barrarioservicos.com.br/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626b9c140aab8---casio-ctk-671-keyboard-manual.pdf A booklet of course notes covering all key concepts and examples comes with each module, so students do not need to take their own notes as they watch videos. Each module has a non-consumable student worktext that presents concepts again using additional examples while following up with practice exercises. A Solutions Manual provides step-by-step solutions for every problem in the worktext. A Progress Tests booklet contains quizzes, tests, and cumulative reviews. Two versions of each test allow for retesting when necessary. Finally, Instructor’s Guides included in each module offer step-by-step solutions to all quizzes, tests, and reviews plus cross-references for test problems to the appropriate lessons. A number of different teachers present the lessons but, because all the lessons were written by a single author, they all use a consistent style that works very well. Presentations are methodical and clear. Videos use animated graphics to illustrate lessons. Emphasis is upon conceptual understanding rather than memorization of processes. This is solid algebra instruction that should work well for independent learners. The multimedia presentation is likely to be especially helpful for students who struggle with math. If students need assistance, a free helpline is available for them to ask questions. If it does not pose problems for SAT or ACT testing, I recommend completing all six modules before tackling a geometry course. You can purchase the entire course with all six modules, individual modules, bundles of three modules each, or the first module plus a completer package. Modules include DVDs and printed books, You can also access the course online at significant savings. You can choose either digital or printed books to use with the online course. Concepts are divided into small “bite sized” chunks of information, and students are able to understand much more efficiently, how and why a particular procedure works. It continues into a mix of the concepts that make up both Algebra I and Algebra II courses, but teaching algebraic concepts in a different sequence than is common to most other programs. Equations and inequalities are taught together; concepts are developed in order of degrees (first degree relations, second degree relations, rational relations, literal degree relations, and so on); logical continuity and mastery of the concepts is the goal from lesson to lesson. The mastery method ensures that students master a particular concept before going on to the next. Additionally, the building approach takes the information just learned and uses it in the lessons which follow. This virtually eliminates the need for repeating previously covered lessons. The entire program is equivalent to two years of high school algebra plus a supplemental pre-algebra course. The video lessons are the textbook and there are approximately 30 lessons per module. Each DVD lesson runs five to ten minutes and should be watched without taking notes. Videos use computer generated graphics, animation, and color sequencing to illustrate the lessons; the emphasis is on understanding the concept rather than memorizing the process. The second step involves the course notes and student worktext that are included with each module. Also included in each module is the student solutions manual, progress tests, and instructor's guide with detailed solutions to the progress tests. For every lesson your student should complete the following 5 steps: These daily exercises are completed in “open-book” fashion, using any reference available to the student. The author shares how you can know your child's readiness here: The Unit descriptions are included with their respective Modules: In 1994 Harold and Louise House felt led by the Lord to start a business. ROBBINS 5.0 out of 5 stars It is very bulky and takes up a lot of space though. I had ordered the DVD but was sent the VHS. Shortly after my VHS was in disrepair. We will be ordering either the DVD or using their online curriculum. The company is great. You can call them if you are stuck on a problem or do not understang. That is amazing. I would either opt for the DVD or use the online version.Great if you need some remedial explanations, but not for us.It's a solid conceptually-based algebra course. It's probably a good idea to start with the first module even if the student has taken prealgebra, but it can be worked through fairly quickly. The authors recommend doing about half the problems, then taking a quiz, and doing the other half only if the material hasn't been mastered. There are also multiple versions of the quizzes and unit tests, so that if a student needs to repeat some material, he or she can be tested a second (sometimes third) time. The only time my son had to repeat a unit, I supplemented with a different text (Lial's algebra, which has a similar sequence of topics) to make sure he got it. He generally corrects his own daily work and he had fallen out of the habit of checking himself before moving on, which is why he had to repeat. I encourage independence in math study, and the format of VideoText encourages this because students can watch the videos and do the exercises on their own. Not every parent would give a child access to the solutions for daily exercises, but I started doing this at an early age and have found this good training for the kind of independent study habits needed for success later in high school and college.) There are two weaknesses to this program as I see it, mostly for students with high ability who are planning to go further in math. The first is that while the exercises do test mastery of the material as taught, the program doesn't have outside-the-box problems to challenge the brightest students to come up with novel applications of what they've learned. Because the course does focus on teaching why things work the way they do, brighter students get the basis for tackling more challenging problems; they just don't get the experience of actually working hard problems from VideoText. The second problem I see is that while it's a very solid Algebra I course, I'd consider the Algebra II (really just Module F) weak for students who plan to go on to calculus and beyond. The coverage of topics such as conics, exponential and logarithmic functions, etc., could be more thorough. That being said, many of the topics are now covered in more depth in Precalculus courses. Still I think it's a solid course for many Algebra I students. For more challenging problems, I strongly recommend the Art of Problem Solving books and classes. The Prealgebra and Introduction to Algebra books would cover the same range of topics as VideoText, but with more depth and more challenging problems. For some students it would make sense to do VideoText first and to follow it with the AoPS book. VideoText Algebra (through module E) would also prepare a student for the AoPS Introduction to Counting and Probability book as well as AoPS Introduction to Number Theory. I would especially recommend going the AoPS route for a child who is ready for algebra at an early age and on a track to finish calculus early in high school -- it makes more sense to go deep with the math and gain a mastery of problem-solving than to rush through the standard curriculum. They shipped it out promtly. Given the opportunity, I will definitely order from them again. It specifically stated that it was the DVD version but after I placed the order, it said that it was VHS.
