One mono an d three s tereo con?gurati ons are?available. The mono con ?gurati on allows you to split th e input signal in to six di?e rent fre quenc y rang es. The s tereo con ?guratio ns allow a maximu m of three d i?eren t fre quenc y rang es per s tereo side. The ab breviat ions L, M and H s tand f or Low, Mid and High Spe aker. With t he parame ters FREQ and T YPE you can de ?ne the slop e of the cr ossover f reque nc y and also sele c t a ?lter t ype. When t he parame ter X-OVER ADJU ST MODE is s et to “LINK”, any changes to the c ross over fre quenc y will also shif t t he neighbo ring f reque nc y ranges. Here you c an mute the inp uts and outp ut s of the DC X 2 496. Thu s, you can monitor eac h fre quenc y ban d, either indi vidually or to gether w ith a neighb oring band, to allow per f ec t edit ing of the is olated f reque nc y range. T o quit th e MUTE menu pre ss MUTE a secon d time. Se lec t either INT o r CAR D (PCMCIA memor y c ard), then enter the pre set you wish to rec all. We included som e ty pical p rese ts, whic h you can us e as a basis f or your own applic ation s. For fu r ther inf ormati on see c hapter 4.7 “ REC ALL m e n u ”. 3.6 Restoring the factor y prese ts If you wish to re store t he UL TRADRIVE PRO ’ s fac to r y pres ets, pr ess and ho ld both P AGE but tons on the f ront p anel sw itching on th e unit. Menu Struct ure and Editing This chapter d escr ibes all f unc tio ns, operat ing steps an d parame ter pages in f ull detail. Whi le workin g with your D CX 24 96, please ke ep the user ’s manual on hand, and use it a s a refer ence in cas e of prob lems. 4.1 Gene ral operating struct ure and display?presentation When you sw itch on your ULTRADRIVE PRO DC X2496, the display shows a graphic with t he cur rent rout ing of the uni t, i.e. how inputs an d outpu ts are lin ked to each other. Mo st of t hem include s everal page s, which you c an sele c t with t he P AGE but tons. The PARAM but ton se lec t s individua l parame ters f rom one page, the dat a whee l edit s them. Con?r m new se tt ings wit h OK, or c ancel your sele c tion wi th CANCEL. T his oper ating st ruc tur e is the sam e for all menus s o it will not b e repeated in ea ch sec t ion of the manual. The menu name is sh own at the top -lef t of the disp lay. Please us e input s A and B in the se mod es.When this func t ion is enable d ( ON), linking s everal out put s to each other, the display will show small connec tin g lines bet ween th e individua l outpu ts. Any fur th er changes to t he parame ters of a sp eci ?c outp ut will be t ransf erre d direc t ly to the linked out put. However, an y edi ts made to a LONG DEL A Y value (see chapter s 4.2.2 and 4.5.5) will not be tr ansfe rred to t he other ou tput. This?param eter can b e adjus ted spec i?ca lly for each o utpu t. SHORT DELAY set ting s (see chapter s 4.2.2 and 4.5.5) will be trans fer red as lo ng as OUT Stereo Link is on. ? In the MONO co nf igur ation, th e Out Stereo L ink f unc tio n cann ot be ac tivated.With the AU TO ALI GN fu nc tion you c an delay the out put signal au tomaticall y by a cer tain amou nt, so as to eliminate p hase can cellations c aused by spea ker alignment. Fo r example, whe n the diaphra gms of severa l speakers are n ot in the sa me phase i t leads to cancellat ions due to arr ival tim e di?er ences. Identic al?signals are ra diated f rom di.If only one o f these si gnals is delayed, this?misa lignment c an be?compens ated. If the ari val time di ?erence s are smaller, a shor t signal d elay will be enoug h to eliminate them (SHORT DELAY). However, if th e speaker cabin ets ar e placed several me ters away f rom each ot her, not only c an phase c ancellation s occur but so c an audible r un-tim e di?er ences. T o remove th ese, you’ll have to use considerab ly higher de lay values (LONG DELA Y). The LONG DELA Y c alculation, however, work s only wi th a minimum dis tance of f our meter s. If, for example, a speaker is con nec ted wi th incor rec t polar it y, AUTO ALIGN will detec t and —if P OLARITIE S is on— corr ec t this er ror autom atically. Use th e paramet ers SHOR T DELAY, LONG DELAY and POL ARITIE S for th e automatic cor rec t ion of out put signals. A s soo n as at least o ne parame ter is set to YES, pre ssing OK will t ake you to another sub -menu. Use?the data w heel to adju st the te st nois e. The level will be read at t he out put s. Press OK to t rigger t he measur ing proce ss. The DC X 2 496 calc ulates the r un-time di?er ences, phas e shif t and po larit y. The OUT s ar e automatic ally adjus ted to the optimum d elay values calc ulated. For e xample, you can tr ansf er the EQ or gain s et tings f rom on e channel to anot her, which s aves you a lot of time. Fig. 4. 15: Set up ? Copy The para meter COPY MODE determine s whet her only single p ages (P AGE) or the complete c hannel se tt ings (WHO LE CHANNEL) will be copied. If you s elec t jus t one pag e, the channe l to be over wri tten (DE STINA TION PA GE) will app ear automatic ally under the parameter DES TINA TION. Please en ter the channe l to which the dat a should be co pied to (DES TINA TI ON CHANNEL). Copy If you set COPY MODE to WHOLE CHANNEL, you can copy the com plete channe l set ting s to another chan nel. Use SOURCE to sele c t the channe l to be copie d (SOURCE-CHANNEL), then de ?ne the cha nnel to be over wr it ten ( DESTINA TION ). The?pro cess is the s ame as in PA GE mode. So -c alled “ cr oss copyin g” (copying of di?eren t channels, for e xample o utput 1?to input A), allows the copying of only t hose pa ges that c an be tra nsfe rred 1: 1 to another channel. Copy 4. 2.4 PA G E L O C K In this menu you c an lock in dividual p arameter p ages, pre venting them f rom being edi ted wit hout ?r st en tering a pas sword. T his is usef ul fo r P.A. rental companie s, for ex ample, who want to make sure t hat cer tain “har mful ” page s with ne cess ar y ?xed se t tings c annot be access ed by the us er. The PORT parame ter provide s three d i?eren t modes f or the PC re mote contro l: 1.In this con?gu ration, the las t AND the ?r st unit in the c hain must have thei r TERM swi tch ON, since both ar e integrate d into the sy stem via o nly one LINK inter f ace. ? General rule: Whenever one device within a chain has been connected to the sy stem vi a only o ne LINK inter face, it s TERM sw itch mus t be pres sed (ON) to avoid data re f lec ti ons and h ence tr ansmis sion er ror s. In PC (RS- 232 ) mod e this s witch i s not nee ded be caus e the LINK interfaces are n ot used. The para meter DELAY UNIT determine s the unit s of bot h measureme nt and temperat ure use d for the d elay set tings in t he corr espondi ng menus. These set tings cannot be made independently of each?other. The MU TE OU TS W HEN P OWER O N func t ion is use d to protec t conn ec ted equipm ent such as power am ps and loudsp eakers. Whe n it is on ( YES), all?outpu ts of t he UL TRADR IVE PRO are muted du ring power-up.
