This is such a valuable tool because any food I can think of that I need to get information on is right in this book. I love the size too because I can carry it around in my bag whenever necessary. Glad I made the choice to buy this. Its handy and easy to carry in your purse. I take it everywhere I go.I is very convenient for travel and to go inside a purse.http://31kouqiang.com/userfiles/1604750187.xml I have gotten grate use out of it after a friend recommended it. This 477 page book lists over 5,000 new and updated menu items from 133 restaurants that we all frequent from time to time. It also lists hundreds of Core Plan Foods!!! It even has chapters with dining out tips, common questions and solutions to staying on plan while eating out, dining out dos and don'ts. Here are just a few of the restaurants listed are: Applebees, Arby's, Boston Market, Burgher King, Chick-fil-A, Dennys, Dominos Pizza, KFC, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Subway, Red Lobster, Sizzeler, Pizza Hut, Quiznos Subs, etc. It even includes places like Starbucks, Carvel, Dairy Queen, TCBY, Cold Stone Creamery and Aunt Annie's Pretzels, just to name a few. There is even an ethnic foods restaurant section which lists foods such as: Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Greek, French, German, Italian, etc. This book has been designed to help you make better food choices when you eat out that will help you maintain your weight loss. Rather Shop Online 5.0 out of 5 stars It's nice to be back to the old plan. So glad to have this book back.I was looking for a book with the calories, fat, and sugar levels. It helps many people learn to eat well, lose weight and feel great. The Dining Out Companion is one of the books you can purchase to help make the flex points system easier. With the WW flex plan you eat a certain amount of points a day. Points are calculated based on calories, fiber and fat. This guide is designed so you can look up an item you are eating at a restaurant and know how many points it is without having to do calculations. For example, if you are at Chick-fil-A, sucking down a cookies and cream milkshake, you do not have to guess how many calories, fiber and fat is in it to figure out the points.http://www.familyreunionapp.com/family/events/elders-manual-sda-church You simply look up Chick-fil-A in the book, scroll down to the cookies and cream milkshake, see that it is 18 points and realize you uh kinda just drank a lot of points and probably don't have much left for the day. Very handy! However, the book has some major drawbacks. For one thing it is not very portable. This is supposed to be a dining out companion. That would mean I would pop the book in my purse and have it with me when I go out to eat. The first 68 pages of the book discusses how to eat out well and reiterates much of the information you learn at WW. Large type, lots of white space and unnecessary pics fill up these pages. Many ads are interspersed throughout the book. The book also includes many restaurants I have never heard of. There are 133 restaurants in the book but many of my favorites are missing (no Panera, Houlihan's, Outback Steakhouse etc). If I am looking at the menu, I can read the description.I don't need that. What I need is the points for more menu items and more restaurants. Some of the restaurants included are McDonalds, Kotache Factory, Steak Escape, bd's Mongolian,Famous Daves Jack In the Box, Fresh Choice, White Castle and Sonic. Each restaurant includes a selection of items and a points list. The back of the book includes a list of core foods if you are following the core plan. It also includes regional favorites. For example look up Indian and you can find the average points in curry, tandoori and other Indian dishes. My suggestion to Weight Watchers for 2009 would be to include more restaurant choices and to cut the size of the book so it's easy to tote. I give it 4 stars because despite its problems if it saves you ONLY one giant points mistake its worth the price. All in all I would recommend getting the book, but you will have to look online at other sites in order to make informed points decisions for many restaurants. Lee Mellott. There are more than 40,000 products lining the shelves of your local supermarket, and with every product comes a whole new host of inflated label claims: “zero trans fat!” “Cholesterol free!” “Good source of 9 vitamins and minerals!” The problem is these claims are just as bogus as the hyped-up foods they’re trying to sell. Jen B 5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the additives and preservatives are shocking and scary that the FDA allows them to go into food for human consumption!! A must read for people who want to change their eating habits for weight loss of just general health!Having been used to rationing in the Soviet Union he has not been exposed to the variety of food product available to him in the United States. It is not too much unlike that grocery shopping in the United States today. You come into a supermarket bulging with products all very colorfully marketed making sometimes unfounded claims as to their health benefits. It is wise, therefore, to come armed with the knowledge that what one buys IS really healthy for them not something a marketer told them to get them to buy their goods. This IS the proverbial SUPERMARKET SURVIVAL GUIDE one should read before entering a store and keeping handy while still in the store. It is helpful to know, for starters, what kind of food one should consider junk before going on to food shopping for healthy products. It talks about Mastering the Produce Aisle then lists over 40 types of produce from how to pick the best (PERFECT PICK) to PEAK SEASON, how to preserve and store the produce item at home (HANDLE WITH CARE) and what is healthy about the item to begin with (THE PAYOFF). There is even a Salad Bar Survival Guide and a Your Organic Primer. In this section the author includes a list of different kinds of fish, their Omega 3 count, protein grams, contaminant content and environmental friendliness. There is a similar chart entitled The Meat Matrix describing proten-to-fat ratio. I love that these sections include photographs of food products all in full color. You are enabled to easily pick out what you want to buy this way. The author meticulously lists the calorie counts, fat grams and sodium contents of all products compared. In the Grains section he lists the grams of fiber included within the product. Of course the author does not ignore the fact that many individuals have a sweet tooth and would like to indulge in products that do not leave them excessively guilt ridden. I remember a trainer telling someone who was having trouble losing weight by exercise alone that that was was only 30 of the solution. Nutritious eating is vital and this book can help you immensely in that regard.I love how the book compares different store bought foods and restaurant meals to more of a healthier choice. I would definitely recommend people to purchase this book especially if you are looking to stay or become healthier, this book will guide you to making better health choices by giving you an healthier alternative. What I love best about both the original and this edition is that the author never chooses a food which is unappetising. You think you can do better than a certain make and model of sausage by choosing the 97 fat free instead of the 50 fat free, you try it, and head back to the store because what you selected was utterly flavorless. I was suprised for instance to find that Lean Pockets are actually very good, and just one with a side of pickles is enough to satisfy me from lunch time through to a 3pm (tea time) bite; and natural peanut butter, yum. I learned that if you make a sandwich with whole grain bread, you really don't feel the need for a second sandwich, reducing your total calories for that one can of tuna you used to make the sandwich(es) by 200 calories. You also have the option to do as recommended in the first book by not reading it at all and simply using it as a guide while you make those important grocery items choices. The only thing I felt that was really lacking was a guide to actual deli meats and cheeses. He goes over packaged deli meats, but not the good stuff such as Boar's Head that you buy by the pound from some fat guy that looks like he does way too much product testing. I really need to know how to order a made-to-order sandwich. BOTTOM LINE: Don't even bother buying the first book, because this one has everything in the first one but with much more information and items. On the other hand, if you're looking for a healthy eating for dummies guide, the first book might be more your style. Just know that some things he recommends in the first book he recommends against in the second--though they are very few and far between. The first book is a better fit for people who eat mostly, if not entirely packaged food. Just don't eat the book!My copy went straight in the bin.If you are looking to better alternative food choices, then this is the book for you. This page explains the Weight Watchers Allowance for the original points method. You will learn how the daily allowance is determined as well as what the weekly allowance is for those following this weight loss plan. As you probably know, the plus system was first introduced in 2011. The biggest difference was how food points were calculated. Other changes included the allowance and activity points. With the introduction of the new points plus, this method is no longer being used at the meetings or online tool. However, many people have elected to keep following this method. Therefore, this overview is for those of you still wanting to track points but use the original system. ISBN: b0012wyt20 collins ireland comprehensive road atlas collins ireland comprehensive road atlas - My husband and I recently took the Collins Ireland Comprehensive Road Atlas on a two-week vacation to Northern Ireland and the Republic. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. You asked, WW answered. Here are the facts on your most pressing questions about weight loss—including what actually works. Chances are you've heard a lot of information about the best ways to lose weight. (Thanks, internet!) The thing is, it can be difficult to separate facts from fiction—a problem when your goal is to create healthy eating habits and acheive sustainable weight loss. Science to the rescue. Read on for the biggest myths about weight loss and the truth about their claims.Although you might have read that certain drinks or foods (like chili peppers) can boost your metabolism, in most cases, you'd need a massive dose to acheive even a minimal effect, according to a 2012 study published in the peer-reviewed journal, Chemistry Senses —and there's no saying whether adding just one thing to your diet would affect the scale. And h ere's the deal with metabolism: The s lower yours churns, the fewer calories your body burns per day. In turn, this may make it harder to lose weight in your 60s than in, say, your 20s—particularly since your body likely needs fewer calories than you did when you were younger. See, a ge-related metabolic dips often have to do with less muscle mass, which results from easing up on physical activity, wrote researchers of a 2008 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition article on age-related differences in body composition among men. Luckily, the takeaway is actionable: Maintaining your physical activity routine can help you side step a major metabolic dip as you age—and enable weight loss later in life. RELATED: 5 Ways to Make Regular Exercise a Reality Myth 3: Eating small frequent meals is better for weight loss than eating larger meals spaced farther apart. That said, t he amount of food you eat over the course of an entire day or week matters more than when you eat or how often. So: Whether you eat the traditional three meals a day, or six (or more!) smaller ones throughout the day, it's best to focus on the big picture and consider which habits you can stick to in the long term. Myth 4: You need to drink a certain amount of water (hot, iced, with lemon, etc.) to lose weight. But listen up, soda drinkers: Substituting water for any caloric beverages you normally drink (e.g. sugary colas, juices) will increase weight loss, since it will reduce the amount of calories you consume in a given day, according to a 2016 clinical trial published in the journal, Obesity. RELATED: The Health Benefits of Drinking Water Myth 5: It’s good to use at-home cleanses and detoxes.Even though some alleged experts claim that you need to detoxify your body from the build-up of pollutants, excess processed foods, chemicals in your home, etc., the reality is that your liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, and gastrointestinal tract already cleanse and detoxify the body on their own. While certain medical conditions may affect your liver or kidneys' functioning, it's best to see a doctor rather than rely on detox products, which generally have not been approved by the FDA.However, research suggests that adding physical activity can increase your weight loss by 20, according to a 2015 review of existing studies on long-term weight loss after diet and exercise. If that doesn't motivate you to move, consider this: Multiple studies show that a regular pattern of physical activity is the single best predictor of long-term weight loss maintenance. And don’t forget that there are many other benefits of physical activity, like improving your mood and sleep quality and decreasing your risk for certain diseases, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. That doesn't mean you have to start running marathons (unless that's your thing). You'd do better to find an activity you love to move more and stick with it. Although smoothies can contain healthy ingredients such as fruits, vegetables, and nonfat Greek yogurt, sipping your food through a straw delivers highly concentrated calories that can be consumed quickly, which doesn't leave your body with much time to register that it’s actually “eaten” something. It could be because w hen you drink something, it eliminates the act of chewing which may impact the signals between the belly and brain, according to a 2015 systematic review published in Physiology and Behavior. After all, smoothies are liquids, which your brain doesn't register as solid food. Myth 8: I am having trouble losing weight because I am not eating enough. The bottom line is this: Eating less can help you lose weight, but eating too little can make it difficult to keep up weight loss momentum and maintain your results. While produce is nutritious, satisfying, and tasty—and may help you lose weight if you eat them instead of higher calorie snacks—eating more bananas because they’re “free” could impact your weight loss efforts. Like any habit, let your weight loss be your guide in determining what works for you.Myth 10: When I reach a certain weight, my weight loss stops because that is the set-point my body wants. This theory has been clearly proven in animals, but is less clear in humans. So what do we know for sure. About 50 of body weight is determined by genetics, and the other 50 is determined by food and activity. While you can't do much about your genes, your eating and exercise patterns can have a significant impact on your weight. Summer's on us! Get your first 3 months free. Purchase required.
