I am guilty of not performing the regular cleaning and maintenance for the first 5 years and have had no issues. I have changed my ways as this little workhorse deserves better. Some paint did peel off the deck after 5 years and I changed the battery in 2016 but both are regular wear and tear issues as far as I am concerned. I have run over large rocks and dirt clumps, this tractor just keeps going. I love our John Deere. I was shocked to see several bad reviews regarding this tractor as I am being completely honest regarding my neglect and as earlier stated, I love our John Deere, not a single problem!???? I will never buy a JD again.Bought it from the local JD dealer with lots of promises of priority service over Lowe’s or Home Depot. Would like answers.Uses no oil (I use Mobile One). 200 Hrs on Mower. I use it like a mule. ???? I found that the grass bagger never works well and stopped using it a long time ago. It would keep getting blocked and would require manual cleaning about every 5 min or so. I did convert it for snow removal which I did work great at. It could handle almost 2 feet of snow with little problem. However, a big however, it could not handle any significant incline with snow removal. I found that every year if I did not use it in the winter it would not turn over and would require a new battery even if I tried to recharge the battery or jump start it.Conversion to winter was involved to put snow attachment. Repair them and it is always a pain to get started. Now with just 36.4 hours of use I cant even get the POS to start. Tried new plugs etc. Not going to spend another sent on this piece of crap Will never buy a John Deere again. Next time I will buy a Walmart POS then when it breaks I won’t be disappointed. When I am in tight places, I simply lift the black grass deflector. On the left dowel stick I keep fire ant poison. I wish I could come up with a tool bag for the cargo holes on the rear for pruning sheers etc. I don’t get very good gas millage. I can’t say I’ve ever had a real problem with it. I bought it new in 2010 and it’s been a great tractor ever since. The engine has plenty of power and the controls are very easy to operate. I enjoy the compliments I receive when it’s cleaned up. This thing is fun, even if you’re not cutting grass. I have to stop and clean it out. I know that John Deere offers a blower system that helps to prevent this issue, but it’s a little pricey. I change the oil once a year myself, and I have it serviced every spring from where I purchased it. I have run over stumps, giant rocks, you name it, it keeps on going and is pretty tough for being the low end model (LA135).Virtually impossible to get hurt while operating this lawn mower. I definitely have a serious case of buyer’s remorse. Within the first 6 weeks I had to have the mowing deck leveled due to uneven cutting, along with several other repairs. To add insult to injury, the dealer charged me for the repairs. From my perspective, the repairs should have been performed under warranty. To make matters even worse, the mower operated great for two cuttings before the alternator went bad. Finally, this past weekend I discovered to my dismay that the oil drain cap somehow had vibrated itself off somewhere along the way. I very nearly fused the pistons to the engine cylinders because all of the oil drained out while I was cutting the lawn. Cost as much to replace as a new mower, PLANNED OBSOLECENSE anyone.We’ve owned this lawn tractor for more than a year and it’s been an excellent addition to our gardening arsenal. Only had 6 weeks- but so far very happy. Cuts grass great. Built solid- should handle my flat.5 acre lot for years to come.
