Operation is smooth, the handles and bearings used are very nice and while this is only my first day using it, it has worked like a charm 3. Presses all the juice out of the orange (or whatever other fruit you want to press). 4. Quick and simple clean-up if you remember not to overfill the cup I postponed buying a juice press because there are so many out there to choose from and I kept going back and forth on this one vs some of the cheaper ones with lower stars. There are some negative aspects to this juice press, such as the handle not locking when it's raised, but that's more of a user mistake and something you can get used to. Here are some tips if you're planning on buying this: 1. Make sure you have a counter top with at least 16 inch clearance for storage (with handle down). I would not recommend putting this in your pantry because I think it will deter you from using it, best keep it out in open space so it's easy to access. 2. The base has 4 suction feet, so this works best if you're using it on a glass, granite or stainless steel. SCENARIO: The problem seems to manifest itself with oranges that are probably past their peak of ripeness (a common occurrence when buying fruit in bulk from warehouse clubs). When said orange halves get the juice pressed out of them, the orange seems to form some kind of air tight seal around the strainer cone. It looks like the dimple may cover about 1 or 2 mm of the edge of the strainer cone. When seated inside the funnel cup, the strainer cone diameter is exactly that of the bottom of the funnel cup (there's no wiggle room). CONTRIBUTING FACTOR: Although the gauge of the metal used for the strainer cone seems to be sufficiently thick enough to withstand a citrus or pomegranate fruit being pressed onto it, the gauge seems to be thin enough to allow the strainer cone to flex just enough to get past the dimples of the funnel cup. SOLUTION: The dimples on the funnel cup needs to cover much more than 1 or 2mm of the edge of the strainer cone. The funnel cup and strainer cone when properly secured should be designed to overpower the suction of a mushy orange when returning the handle in the upright position. PASSING THOUGHTS: I hear Valencia oranges are better for juicing than other oranges due to maximum juice and minimal peel. Shop for oranges like you would avocados. If you pick up two equally sized oranges, the juicier orange will be the heavier one. Just remember to put some small plastic every day on the top squeezing piece to avoid having to clean it up.
