He graduates from high school and headed for technical school, for body shop workTo keep costs low, it is printed on rather poor quality paper and photos are all black and white and very dark and grainy. However, text is well written and laid out, diagrams appear well labeled. Good specification sheets. Year to year changes as well as UK and North American model differences are called out.So I am very happy with the purchase.http://permcongress.com/content/firstcom-fc-01g-manual.xml

That being said it does make a nice companion to a factory manual, because of the actual photographs. My recommendation? Skip this one and go for a Factory Manual, then perhaps reconsider the Haynes Manuals later for the pictures.I’ve used the heck out of it. Works well in conjunction with a forum.By choosing Haynes, it is certain that you will get a well researched, detailed book and this is important when it comes to vehicle engineering. I certainly have no hesitation in recommending this bookMaybe someone had taken a Stanley knife to them for some reason. Would have sent it back but needed it the day it arrived and managed to get it mucked up with oily fingers.Page 1 of 1 Start over Page 1 of 1 Previous page Next page. Is the hays book worth it. Generally I'm not a fan of hayes but they seem to be the easiest to find Autobooks makes some good ones as well as the Haynes and factory ones. Oh, and don't forget the Bentley Manual. There are usually several books available on Ebay or on the web pages of the various parts suppliers. The problem is you will never get enough. I have 5 different year cars and have about 30 different books now. And I know there are still others out there I have not yet found.Dan AycockIt can help with reassembly when you forget what goes where. The Bentley manual is difficult to find for the GT6, but worth it if you can find it. The Haynes is okay, but go to is usually the factory book because it's red and sticks out.I have an old one for the Spitfire and it is very good for the most part, very detailed with a lot of information. Also much thinner.http://magnachip.com/userfiles/20201013130524.xml For the Seven I bought a used factory manual. It's a big red binder, and is the most complete manual on the GT6 that you'll ever own. The Robert Bentley manual is a reprint (but not complete) of this manual, and is my second best choice. While I own the Haynes manual as well, I find it lacking for the GT6 model. I got a mint copy really cheap on ebay, which made it worthwhile. While I don't own any, there are CDs out there which maybe a good value. Perhaps someone who owns one may chime in. GeorgeI have an old one for the Spitfire and it is very good for the most part, very detailed with a lot of information. Also much thinner. For the Seven I bought a used factory manual.I bought one of the early copies and it worked pretty well for me. But their were some drawbacks. It would only run on Win XP and not on any of the newer Windows versions. It would only work with the CD inserted in the computer and you could not copy files to your hard drive or print pages form the manual. Some of the scanned pages were not so good, text was OK but pictures were very dark. The protection scheme was called hexalock, and it's easily cracked. Just search the internet. Beware - some parts vendors still seem to be selling these earlier versions. I think this is a great deal for a full set of manuals.Read the Forum Help (FAQ) or contact the webmaster Please open your ticket on the page where you're having trouble. Triumph originally began their trade importing and selling bicycles, before moving onto manufacturing their own bicycles by 1889. It wasn’t until the 1930s that the company’s name was changed to Triumph Motor Company, when it focused upon high-end car production with an expensive price tag. This was a strategic move to avoid competing with larger automotive brands that produced for the mass market. The popular Spitfire originally had a 1147 cc four-cylinder engine, with the Spitfire 1500 receiving a 1998 cc six-cylinder engine. The TR7 was also a popular model, and featured a 1998 cc four-cylinder engine. At Haynes we have a selection of Triumph repair manuals available, which is perfect for the classic car owner looking to carry out their own full body repairs and engine upgrades. Do you long to not go to car shows empty-handed? Restoration is exciting but it’s also a long process. Here are a few tips to help you be efficient with your restoration. For that reason, you should choose your car with care. Part of the thrill of restoring a car is to find that iconic original grill in the junkyard. But if you have to go rummaging for every filter and lug nut that will get old very fast. The reason for this is the relative ease of finding parts. Lots of people get into restoring muscle cars, but if that’s not your thing that’s okay. You can even look at used trucks if you want to. Consider availability of parts, budget, potential return, but in the end, pick what you like. Car restoration takes a lot of time and effort. If you only feel half-excited to work on it now, imagine in a few months. You have every reason to do it. The club will be full of people passionate about your car. They have a wealth of information about what parts to use, and how best to go about things. You can find the answer to virtually any question that comes up during the process. Your family may not be as excited about this project as you are. That can feel defeating when you don’t have anyone who will get excited with you. The club is full of folks who will encourage you on your journey. Some of them even have their own supply. They also will often know where to find parts that are rarer. You may already know how to do some of the things involved in the restoration. Unless you’ve done a restoration before, you’ll run into tasks you’ve never done before. Some might even be willing to help you on occasion. At the very least, they can recommend a good place for you to go to learn the necessary skills. You might as well get it done right. Restoring a car isn’t just taking it apart and putting it back together with new parts. Sometimes you should add things that weren’t there before. For example, if it’s an older car that has a ton of freeway noise, plan to insulate it better. The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Set up what you think will be a reasonable timeline for your project. Then add a few months. You’re in this for the long haul, but a timeline will help you stay organized. Knowing when you are falling behind is very helpful for keeping yourself on track. Your phone is handy for auditory reminders every now and again. A little peer pressure goes a long way to keeping you on track! Many of the accents on your car like wheels, badges, lighting, etc.Maybe even years. They may have developed rust spots or insect or rodent damage. You don’t want to go to all this effort only to have a couple distracting pieces on the outside of your car. While you may have to discipline yourself to get through parts, it shouldn’t be through all of it. Enjoy the journey. If you’re not into it for a couple months, take a break and come back to it fresh. But having that spiffy car is only worth it for the effort it took to get there. That’s great! Check out our classic car info page to learn about different models. That will help you decide on a car to restore if you don’t know which one you want yet. Curb weight 1,568 lb (711 kg) to 1,750 lb (790 kg) (unladen U.K.spec). The design used body-on-frame construction, augmented by structural components within the bodywork and rear trailing arms attached to the body rather than the chassis. A manually deployable convertible top, substantially improved on later models, provided weather protection and a bespoke hard-top was available as a factory option.Never sold to the public, it remains on display at the British Motor Museum.Where the Austin A30 used monocoque construction, the Herald used body-on-frame — a chassis Triumph was able to downsize, saving the cost of developing a completely new chassis-body unit. The Spitfire's introduction was delayed by its company's financial troubles in the early 1960's and was subsequently announced shortly after Standard Triumph was taken over by Leyland Motors. When Leyland officials, taking stock of their new acquisition, found Michelotti's prototype under a dust sheet in a factory corner, it was quickly approved it for production.Bodywork was bolted to the much-modified Herald chassis, the outer rails and the rear outriggers having been removed; with structural outer sills to stiffen the overall design. One leaf was eliminated from the stack and only the bottom leaf was attached rigidly to the differential. The remaining leaves were mounted to pivot freely — thereby eliminating the worst characteristics of the original swing-axle design.Exterior trim featured a new grille and badges, and the interior featured revised seats, covering most exposed surfaces with rubber cloth. The front bumper was raised in response to new crash regulations, and the front coil springs were slightly raised. Slightly revised bonnet pressings were carried over. Rear overriders were deleted and bumper mounted reversing lights became standard (initially as two separate lights on either side of the number plate, latterly as a single light in a new unit above the number plate). The interior received a wood-veneer instrument surround and a smaller, 15-inch, wire spoked steering wheel. A folding hood replaced the earlier, more complicated design. For most of the Mark III range, the instrument cluster remained centre-mounted (as in the Mark I and Mark II), easily accommodating right-hand and left-hand drive versions. A new quieter exhaust gave a sweet distinct note and reduced cabin noise. The engine used a revised camshaft and a distributor with idle speed ignition timing retarded to address emissions. A reduced compression ratio of 8.5:1 resulted in a slight decrease in power (68 bhp) and 73 ft-lbs of torque. The instrument panel was moved in front of the driver, and new seats were introduced with integrated headrests to help against whiplash. Cosmetically, the wood dash was replaced with a matte black finished assembly intended to imitate an aircraft cockpit. Additional exterior changes introduced included a zip up rear window, black radiator grille and a black (vs body colored) windshield surround. Interior changes included a steering column mounted ignition switch, a key-in-ignition warning buzzer, driver's side under-dash courtesy lamp and a new black spoked steering wheel.
